[edit] Attendance and Discussion

It is mandatory that all students attend and participate in discussion sections. Please come to class prepared by having read the appropriate texts. Your participation in discussion makes discussion sections fun and full of your ideas rather than full of me nervously filling in painfully empty silences. More than two unexcused absences in section will result in a significantly lowered grade in this course. Email me, call me, or see me if you are going to be missing or have missed a discussion section.

[edit] Grading

All papers must be completed in order for you to pass this class. A late paper will be docked 1/3 of a letter grade for every 24 hours that it is late.

Please don’t engage in academic dishonesty, i.e. plagiarism or cheating. The intentional or unintentional theft of another person’s ideas is a very serious crime and may be punished in a variety of ways such as receiving a failing grade on an assignment or a failing grade in the course. If you have questions regarding how to correctly cite sources, please see me.

[edit] Office Hours and Messages

Please take advantage of office hours, or if you cannot attend office hours, please let me know, and we’ll set up a time to meet. Office hours are an excellent way for you to give me feedback on how you think the discussion sessions are going, convey any questions you might have regarding this course, or just to chat about any topics that we might not be fully covering in section. If you want to get a message to me, email is probably the most effective means of communication. You can also call me or leave me a message in my mailbox in the Sankey Room (SH 2623).
