Welcome to the English Department Knowledge Base at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
The EDKB Wiki is a database that makes available the various interests, talents, and resources of the English Department community. See the Main Page to learn more about the EDKB. The wiki does not offer information on current course offerings, nor is it a comprehensive archive of materials related to all past courses. Visit the English Department home page for this type of information.

There are two options for restricting access to pages on the EDKB Wiki.

[edit] Instructor Only Pages

To create pages that are visible only to UCSB Faculty and TAs, put your pages in the "Instructor" namespace. To do so:

  • Use the prefix "Instructor" before the title when creating your page.

[edit] Restricted Student Pages

All students will belong to the "users" group by default. This means they can read but not edit pages, unless you add them to the "editors" group as well. If you have pages that you would like your students to see, but do not want read by the general student population, you can create your pages in the "Students" namespace. To do so:

  • Use the prefix "Student" before the title when creating your page.
  • Create your page as usual. For help in this area, see Help:A Guide to Adding Content.
  • Grant your students access to the page.
    • Add them to the "nsStudent_RO" group if you want them to read but not edit the page.
    • Add them to the "nsStudent_RW" group if you would like them to read and edit the material.
    • For help on adding users to usergroups, see Help:A Guide to User Groups
